Created from a passion for buildings, photography and the outdoors, Milesight Surveys brings these elements together.
As a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS), Nick has 20 years of experience in looking at a wide range of building types having worked across the UK and Channel Islands.
Originating from Wolverhampton and now residing on the picturesque south coast of England between Christchurch and Bournemouth, a natural hobby for photography and digital imagery started in 2014 spanning various camera platforms, including Nikon, Fujifilm and most recently, the Sony mirrorless system.
The interest in drones was ignited in 2022, with the aim to combine building surveying with high-level photography to elevate services to the next level.
Previous methods of aerial building imagery relied on truck-mounted access platforms which are both expensive and regularly experience site limitations. In many cases, a hired access platform would be sent from depots all over the country, so a more sustainable and environmentally friendly option had to be explored.
We use DJI drones which are discreet, lightweight and above all, reliable. With many safety features, obstacle avoidance, hi-res camera and 4k video footage - it is the right tool for the job.
Safety
We are aware that drones use can rouse suspicion and general interest from members of the public.
As an experienced chartered building surveyor, Nick is well versed in communicating with others whilst carrying out site inspections.
Nick is an approachable drone operator and ensures that everyone that may be directly affected by the use of a drone is made aware of activities on site.
CAA drone operator registration, dedicated site flight plans, photographic identification, proof of liability insurance and a pleasant shade of blue PPE, we remain visible and able to answer most questions (subject to it being a safe time to do so).
